Fire crews investigate suspicious package at Lake County courthouse

TAVARES, Fla. — Fire crews responded to the Lake County courthouse in Tavares Tuesday afternoon because of reports of a suspicious package.

Lake County sheriff's officials said the package was delivered to the fifth floor of the courthouse.

The Tavares Fire Department hazmat team is investigating a white powder that was found in the package.

The fifth floor of the courthouse was evacuated as hazmat crews worked at the scene.
