CLERMONT, Fla. - Lake County deputies arrested two people they say allegedly tried to kidnap a family in Clermont Friday afternoon.
Mark Meinhart, 45, and Kristen Deflorio, 32, were arrested and charged with attempted luring or enticing a child after deputies say the pair pulled up alongside a woman, her daughter and her 3-year-old granddaughter and ordered them into their truck.
The family members ran inside their house, prompting Meinhart to flee around 4:30 p.m.
The family called the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and soon after, deputies found the truck and attempted to pull it over.
Meinhart, who deputies say was driving, fled from police a short distance until stopping at the intersection of John’s Lake Road and U.S. 27.
Meinhart is being held on $32,000 bail. Deflorio is being held on $30,000 bail.
Police are not releasing the identity of the victims or the address where the attempted kidnapping occurred.
