LOXAHATCHEE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, Fla. - A pilot from Lake County was killed when his small plane crashed in the Florida Everglades on Saturday.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reports the small plane crashed Saturday into the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge about 20 miles west of Boynton Beach. The site could only be reached by airboats.
One person was killed in the plane crash, officials said. The victim was identified as 75-year-old Paul Soule of Fruitland Park. The plane is registered to Paul S. Soule Enterprises.
FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac said the twin engine Cessna 340 departed Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport Saturday morning en route to Leesburg.
