Lakeland city manager says he won't investigate claims against police chief

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Lakeland's city manager said he will not investigate allegations against the city's police chief.

Some of the anonymous complaints against Chief Lisa Womack claim she broke policy by hiring a friend and drove a city vehicle after drinking wine.

City Manager Doug Thomas said there is nothing substantial to prove those allegations.

He said, however, he reserves the right to change his mind about pursuing them.
