Latest Sanford apartment complex shooting caught on video

SANFORD, Fla. — Channel 9 has obtained cellphone video from yet another shooting that happened in Sanford.

The shooting was reported at the Seminole Gardens apartment complex early Wednesday morning, a place where authorities have been called to about 50 times in the past six months.

The shots were fired in a parking lot as neighbors and children gathered thinking there was going to be a fight, witnesses told Channel 9.

At the beginning of the cellphone video, two men can be seen in the distance. A witness said one of those men handed a gun to the other and shots were fired soon after.

In the video, six shots can be heard as the person filming ran away.

Christina Grant said her husband was supposed to be the target of those shots, and she talked with Channel 9 later in the day.

“I think this is an eye opener,” Grant said. “Me and my kids, we're leaving. I'm getting away from here for a while, because it's crazy. You can't even let your kids outside to play.”

Emetrius Austin was taken into custody after the shooting. There’s no word on what charges he faces.

In the meantime, police are still trying to solve another shooting that happened at the complex about a week and a half ago.
