Law enforcement, hazmat crews respond to upscale Winter Park home

Law enforcement spent nearly 11 hours in an upscale duplex on Aragon Avenue in Winter Park in response to a call Wednesday evening about a fire.
It’s unclear where the fire started, but police said the fire appeared to be confined to one area and that no one was hurt.
Officers left the scene at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday but returned to the home later in the day after the homeowner reported seeing smoke in his house. Investigators said the homeowner had chemicals in home.
"There were possibly some chemicals that were still in the house that were potentially causing the smoke," Sgt. Garvin McComie with the Winter Park Police Department said.
Several other agencies, including a hazmat crew, were called to the home.
Investigators have not identified the chemicals.
Crews said the house and neighborhood are safe.
"If there's any smoke and we don't know exactly what's going on, we'll evacuate the area to make sure everything's safe," said McComie.
Police said that so far, no narcotics were found.
