Lightning blamed for New Smyrna Beach house fire


NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Lighting is being blamed for a fire that broke out at a home in New Smyrna Beach on Tuesday.

A neighbor called in the fire about 3:30 p.m.  and firefighters from Volusia County, New Smyrna Beach and Oak Hill worked together to extinguish the flames.

When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed. Firefighters said they learned the home was vacant and no injuries were reported.

The fire marshal was called to investigate.
