OCOEE, Fla. - Investigators are trying to find the people responsible for beating and killing a teenager.
Eduardo Rodriguez, 18, was found at a home on Coquina Key Drive in Ocoee around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Family members said they were shocked to find Rodriguez’s body lying in front of his home between two cars.
“He just turned 18. He was a young kid,” Jose Rodriguez, the victim’s cousin, said. “He was found right in front of our house. He was just thrown there, like nothing.”
Jose Rodriguez said Eduardo Rodriguez may have screamed for help after he was brutally beaten and left in the mud, in the mobile home where he lives.
“I don’t know how this happened. This shouldn’t have happened,” Jose Rodriguez said.
WFTV learned he is a former student at Ocoee High School.
His parents and other loved ones gathered at a neighbor’s house while detectives searched for clues and towed away the victim’s car from the neighborhood residents said is mostly quiet and working class.
Crime statistics show, however, there were 43 crimes in March in that area that ranged from robbery and assault, to murder within a two mile radius where Eduardo Rodriguez was found.
“Random killer out there killing people. It’s just not right,” Jose Rodriguez said.
The man’s girlfriend spoke to one of the detectives from the joint homicide task force.
Evidence was found on the sidewalks, but investigators covered it up to protect it from being altered.
Detectives focused on a green truck at the scene and took pictures of it for evidence.
