Man, 55, dies at hospital after shooting in Citra home

CITRA, Fla. — A man was shot inside a Marion County home late Tuesday night, authorities said.

Deputies said Michael Sumpter, 55, was shot inside his Citra home on Northeast 16th Terrace and died at the hospital.

Investigators said someone called 911 just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to report the shooting.

A witness said, "I heard the two dogs barking and I looked out the window and I didn't see nothing, and then I heard a couple gunshots."

Investigators have not said who shot Sumpter, but they did say that his son, brother and his daughter were inside the house when the shooting happened.

Officers said they are all being questioned, but no one has been named a suspect.
