Man accused of groping teens at Typhoon Lagoon banned from Disney parks

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 27-year-old man accused of groping six people at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park finally left in an Uber after taking refuge for more than seven hours in the lobby of the Orange County Jail.

Aman Bhatia, an Indian national, was released on bail after midnight Wednesday and briefly left the Orange County Jail, but when he was confronted by a Channel 9 reporter, he turned around and went back inside.
As reporters from other news organizations converged on the jail, Bhatia remained inside until just before 8 a.m., when he was finally picked up by an Uber driver.

“Did you touch those girls?” Channel 9 asked.

“Sorry. I’m not commenting,” he replied.

During his appearance in front of a judge Wednesday, he was banned from going to any water park.

Bhatia is accused of groping six people on Sunday, most of them girls younger than 16, in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon, investigators said.
“You're at Disney. This is supposed to be the most fun place in the world, and you're supposed to be protected,” said visitor Tanya Bartone.
A woman told deputies that she was in the wave pool with her children on Sunday.
She said Bhatia ran his hands over her stomach and breasts, deputies said.
The woman said she glared at him and went to tell her husband.
The woman said she saw Bhatia position himself in front of a girl who appeared to be no older than 16. As the waves crashed, the teen began to yell, “Who grabbed my breasts?” deputies said.
Another teen told deputies that she was in the wave pool with her friends when Bhatia grabbed her buttocks.
She said that when she moved in any direction, Bhatia followed.
Once she got out of the pool, the teen said she saw Bhatia touch one of her friends when a wave crashed into them, according to the arrest report.
A fourth victim told deputies that she was in the wave pool when Bhatia grabbed her waist from behind and pulled her toward him twice.
She said she was able to break loose, but he grabbed her again until her friends were able to pull her away from Bhatia.
The group complained about the incident, deputies said.

A Disney manager told him he's "trespassed from all of Walt Disney World,” and that "he is never to return" and that the warning is "non-expiring."

In all, six people reported similar incidents involving Bhatia, deputies said.
The first woman and her husband, along with several other men, went to confront Bhatia and get a lifeguard, deputies said.
During questioning, Bhatia said he broke his glasses in the wave pool, put them in the locker and returned to the wave pool, deputies said.
Bhatia said he bumped into several people in the wave pool and apologized, but said he never intentionally touched the teens.
He said his vision was fuzzy because his glasses were broken.
Bhatia is charged with four counts of lewd. lascivious molestation on a child over 12 years old but under the age of 16, as well as two counts of battery.
Bhatia currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but is an Indian citizen, an Orange County Sheriff’s Office report said.
Disney has banned Bhatia from visiting the theme park.
Disney would not confirm whether Bhatia stayed as a guest at one of its resorts.
