ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A 43-year-old man was arrested in Apopka Sunday afternoon after he fled from deputies and tried to get into a woman’s home, according to investigators.
The incident started around 3:15 p.m. when a deputy spotted Bryan George sleeping in his vehicle that was parked at a 7-Eleven gas pump. When the deputy woke him up, George sped off, nearly hitting the deputy, officials said.
The man's vehicle was spotted by another deputy moments later and a brief chase ensued. Authorities said George got out of his vehicle on Orange Street in Apopka and tried to get inside a nearby home.
"He rang the door bell here in the garage wanting to use the phone and saying his car had broken down," the homeowner, who didn't want to be identified, said.
Deputies approached the home and George was taken into custody without incident.
"They wanted him to come out of the garage so he laid down and they handcuffed him," the homeowner said.
He was booked into the Orange County Jail and faces a slew of charges, including fleeing and eluding, burglary and drug possession.
