• Man allegedly tried to drive under influence with child in car


    ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A man was arrested in Orange County after investigators said he tried to drive home drunk with a child in the car.

    An arrest report stated that a deputy was told by a citizen that a driver at a nearby Bahama Breeze was driving away in a van and was severely intoxicated.

    The deputy said he stopped the car when the driver, Jose Lopez, he smelled of alcohol.

    The report said there was a child in the vehicle who looked scared.

    Deputies said Lopez wouldn’t take a sobriety test, and when they arrested him he became very combative.

    Reports stated he threatened the deputy and smashed his head against the cruiser’s window.

    Lopez pushed and tried to kick the deputy, according to reports.

    Deputies said he had to be pepper sprayed once he was brought to the jail

    Lopez was charged with child neglect and battery on a law enforcement officer.
