Man asks girl, 7, to get into car, Kissimmee police say

Kissimmee police are looking for a man they said asked a 7-year-old girl to get into his car.
The child told officers she was walking west on Mabbette Street toward Thacker Avenue Elementary when a man in a white, four-door vehicle with tinted windows pulled up next to her.
She said the man asked her to “come into my car,” and she told him, “No, thank you” and continued to walk to school.
The child said the man kept following her until she started to run.
She described the man as white or light-skinned Hispanic, in his late 20s or early 30s with a beard and brown hair.
"She went to the school, told a guidance counselor and then we got involved,” said Kissimmee police spokesperson Stacie Miller.
Police said they'll be out searching for the vehicle and will also have undercover officers out monitoring the area for the man.
"There's concern that somebody approached a child. Now, he did not get out of the car, he did not try to grab her. We want to find out who this person is before he decides to take that next step,” Miller said.
Meanwhile, parents said they'll use the concerning incident to keep driving home their safety message to children.
"We teach them to make a way of escape. Go tell an adult. Go tell another parent. Go tell a law enforcement official,” said parent Natalie Wesley.
Wesley said she warned her children to be on the lookout.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Kissimmee police or Crimeline at 800-427-8477.
