Man charged in connection with 4 Melbourne-area burglaries

MELBOURNE, Fla. — West Melbourne police said they have connected one man to a half-dozen burglary cases, and on Monday, they showed Channel 9 all of the loot they said he stole.

David Holland, 44, was arrested as he tried to pawn some of the stolen merchandise, authorities said.

The stolen items included everything from jewelry, wedding bands and family photographs to military ID tags, police said.

Authorities said they're now trying to get those items back to their rightful owners.

On Monday, police laid out the items on several tables, saying most of it came from one neighborhood in the senior community of Hollywood Estates.

"You just feel violated," said victim Lura Glavel. "You're devastated that someone's gone through your personal belongings. It may not mean anything to them, but to you, it's the last thing you saw your grandfather using or something like that."

Holland has been charged in connection with four cases, with additional charges pending. He has been jailed without bond.
