Man charged with cutting mother's Chihuahuas

MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Melbourne man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities say he cut the throats of four of his mother's six Chihuahuas.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office reports that 23-year-old Adam Christopher Kosa was covered in blood when deputies responded to his parents' home last Thursday.

Kosa reportedly let himself in while his parents were away. Kosa told deputies he was upset and attacked the dogs because his mother loved them more than him.

Deputies say two of the dogs Kosa attacked died, but two others were taken to an animal hospital.

After leaving the home for a short time, Florida Today reports that Kosa returned and called 911. He hung up before speaking to the dispatcher, but the call prompted deputies to respond.

Kosa was being held on $20,000 bail.
