• Man detained, other runs off after deputies respond to shots fired near UCF

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County Sheriff's deputies said they responded to a report of shots being fired outside a home on Coral Reef Drive Thursday morning near the University of Central Florida.

Deputies said when they arrived they detained a man who was sitting in a car with a gun. They said another man ran away.

When deputies knocked on the door of the home, they spoke with two men who claimed the other men broke into the house.

Deputies said while they were clearing the scene to make sure no one else was in the home, they found guns and drugs in plain sight.

UCF police assisted deputies in the investigation due to the nature of the call, officials said.

Deputies said they are trying to find out if the incident was a home invasion.

Authorities said they are waiting on a warrant to thoroughly search the home.
