Man fatally struck by Amtrak train in Winter Park

WINTER PARK, Fla. — A man was fatally struck Sunday evening by an Amtrak train, the Winter Park Police Department said.

The man, who wasn’t publicly identified, was standing on the railroad tracks shortly before 8 p.m. south of the railroad overpass at South Orlando and Monroe avenues when he was hit, Winter Park police Lt. Pam Marcum said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he died, Marcum said.

There were 163 passengers aboard the train, which was traveling from New York City to Miami, the company said.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The incident continues to be investigated.

No other details were given.
