Man hit, killed by SunRail train in Orlando, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man walking on the train tracks in the area of Orange Avenue and Wilkinson Street was hit and killed by a SunRail train Thursday night, the Orlando Police Department said.

The man was hit at about 7:11 p.m., police said.

The Orlando Police Department identified the victim as William Milligan, 84, who lived near the tracks on Nottingham Street.

Milligan was diagnosed with dementia in 2012 and video from the train showed that he was crossing the tracks at the time of the incident and did not get all the way across to avoid being struck, investigators said.

There were 35 passengers on the train at the time of the crash, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

None of the passengers or crew members were injured.

By 9:45 p.m., the train had been cleared to leave the scene.

No other information was immediately released on the crash or death.
