Deputies: Man injured in possible road-rage shooting at Orange County gas station

One person was injured and taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon when he was shot outside a busy Orange County gas station in what investigators believe could be a road-rage attack.
The shooting was reported just before 3:30 p.m. at a RaceTrac gas station on North Alafaya Trail, deputies said.
An eyewitness, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 9 that he was nearby when the shooting happened.
“I didn’t expect this guy to pull up over here and pull a weapon out,” he said. “It was, like, five shots, you know, like, pop, pop, pop, pop. It was real quick.”
Crime scene tape blocked off the gas station for several hours Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said that the victim was shot in the lower body and was taken to Florida Hospital East.
No information was immediately released on his condition.
Deputies believe the shooting may be a possible case of road rage, but did not release details on why they came to that conclusion.
If road rage is the cause, the witness said he couldn’t understand how a dispute on the road could end with a shooting, especially at such a crowded gas station.
“It’s ridiculous,” he said. “These people had zero empathy for other people in the area. They were just about settling their grudge with another person.”
