Man indicted in deaths of 2 found in orange grove

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A central Florida man has been indicted in the deaths of his 3-year-old daughter and her mother, two years after their skeletons were found in an orange grove.

The remains of Ronkeya Holmes and her daughter MaSarah Ross were found in a Winter Haven orange grove in December 2010.

MaSarah's father, Lester Ross Jr., was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter. Ross has been held without bond since 2010 on a related witness-tampering charge.

Police tell The Ledger  MaSarah died in 2009 while with Ross, who kept her body in a freezer for months until Holmes arrived to check on the girl. Police say Ross poisoned Holmes and buried the woman with MaSarah.

A message left Friday for Ross' attorney was not immediately returned.
