Officials release name of man killed in Lady Lake deputy-involved shooting

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead following a deputy-involved shooting in Lake County on Saturday.

Deputies said 54-year-old Harold Roudebush, of Griffin View Drive in Lady Lake, was threatening suicide and holding a gun to his head.

Deputies said when they were on the scene, the man was holding a gun to his chin.

They said the man pulled the trigger, but the gun did not go off.

Deputies said he then reloaded the gun and pointed it at the deputies, so an officer opened fire.

The man died at the scene.

The Florida Department of Law enforcement is now investigating the shooting, which is standard procedure when a deputy uses deadly force.

The officer who fired at Roudebush hasn't yet been identified.
