Man killed, woman critically injured after motorcycle crash on I-4 in Volusia

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead after a motorcycle crash on I-4 in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Dustin Lanier, 29, of Winter Springs, was driving the motorcycle onto the State Road 44 exit ramp when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail.

Lanier and his passenger, Jessica Scruggs, 27, of Ormond Beach, were thrown from the motorcycle, FHP said.

Lanier died at the scene. Scruggs was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation.
