Man pistol-whipped during robbery in front of Orange County apartments

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man who was pistol-whipped during a robbery in front of his Orange County apartment talked to Channel 9 on Monday.

The incident happened at the Park Apartments on Goldenrod Road just before 2 a.m. Monday, deputies said.

The victim said after walking home from a party, he was using his gate card to get inside the complex when he was approached by man and a woman who were armed with guns.

"I didn't resist in any way. I put my hands up as soon as I saw the guns," said the victim, who didn't want to be identified. "I was afraid of being shot."

Deputies said the couple pistol-whipped the man, giving him a black eye. According to investigators, shots were also fired during the robbery but no one was injured.

"I handed over my wallet and my money," said the victim. "They fired off a few shots before driving away."

The victim said the robbers got away with his complex gate key, so he's hoping management will add more security measures. Employees at the apartment complex wouldn't talk to Eyewitness News.

Deputies said they're searching for the pair, who is considered armed and dangerous.
