ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A 28-year-old man leaving the Dancer's Royale strip club on East Colonial Drive fell out of his truck while it was moving, and it ran over his leg, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The incident was reported to FHP at about 2:41 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said he left his driver’s license behind, and he is known at the strip club.
FHP said witnesses told them the man appeared to be intoxicated as he was leaving the club.
Witnesses said his friends begged him not to drive, but he got in the truck anyway and started it up.
Troopers said the driver, who was not identified, fell out of the truck as he tried to drive away and the truck ran over his leg.
The truck then rolled down the street, hit a ditch and crashed into a home on Old Cheney Highway, officials said.
A woman was sleeping in the room where the truck came to a stop, and her son Adrian Larrea said it was a miracle she survived.
“It felt like a bomb exploding," said Larrea. "My mom sleeps right there next to the window. She would've been dead if that ditch wasn't there."
The impact knocked her out of bed, and Larrea said she has a strained neck.
"One of the security guards came running and my mom opened the door. They asked her, ‘Are you OK?’” said Larrea.
Barbara Hernandez, 58, of Miami, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the FHP said.
"I'm really angry because he could've killed my mom and he left. He didn't even take responsibility for it," said Larrea.
The driver fled the scene on foot, troopers said.
Investigators tried to contact the driver at his home, but were unsuccessful.
FHP said charges are pending.
