Man with shotgun taken into custody near Orange County school

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a shotgun was seized from an armed man in east Orange County.

Robert William Vinn, 19, a white male was dressed all in black and spotted carrying a shotgun near East River High School and Corner Lakes Elementary School, according to investigators. Both schools were locked down as a precaution.

Deputies said they recovered a 12-gauge shotgun with three rounds. The shotgun was disassembled, officials said. Schools were advised the area is secure.

The Sheriff's Office sent a tweet around 4 p.m. saying a man was arrested near East River High School Friday afternoon. They later said that the man was not arrested.

In the tweet they said, "Too early to tell if Conn. Copycat."

Later Friday afternoon investigators said that they didn't believe that Vinn had any ill intent.

Investigators said Vinn was cooperative and allowed them to search his home for other weapons. They said that no other weapons were found. According to investigators Vinn told them he did not have any other weapons.

Investigators said charges will be filed with the State Attorney's office for breach of peace.

The two schools are located in east Orange County along Highway 50.
