Man sitting on porch robbed, shot in Pine Hills

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are searching for two gunmen they said tried to rob a man sitting on his front porch, and then shot him.

Investigators said the victim was approached by two men on Pine Hills Road, just after 11 p.m. Monday.

The two men demanded money, and then pulled out a gun and started shooting, officers said.

People next door heard the gunfire and ran outside.

The victim's father told them what happened.

"They attempted to rob his son and he wasn't budging with them, so they shot him in the hip. Ben heard them and called the police," said witness Donovyn Akoon.

Orange County deputies searched for the gunmen with K-9 units and a helicopter, but did not find him.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
