Ferguson was booked Sunday into the Orange County Jail on charges of robbery and first-degree murder.

Investigators said Mitchell was shot while picking up a birthday present.

Mitchell's mother, Sanda Cromwell, drove down from Georgia this past weekend to lay flowers on her son's grave on Father's Day.

"I want justice, I want answers. What's going on with my son? What happened?" Cromwell said during a previous interview.

Ferguson is the second person arrested in the case.

In March,

, who they believe was the getaway driver that night.

Cromwell told Channel 9 that her son was in fear for his life moments before his shooting death.

She said he told her he was carrying $160,000 in cash and he thought he was going to be killed.

"My son had $75,000 in one bag, $85,000 in the other bag," Cromwell said.

Mitchell was fatally shot three hours later, investigators said.

Newly released court records said Ferguson and Jaqyoune Adams, who has not been charged in connection with the shooting, "were riding around the Pine Hills area, looking for someone to rob and saw Mitchell."

"Adams got out of the BMW with a handgun and began tussling with Mitchell," records said.

Deputies said Adams tried to shoot Mitchell, but the gun jammed, so Ferguson "got out of the car and fired multiple rounds at Mitchell, killing him," records said.

A report said the men "knew Mitchell had money and where he was going, so they went to 4562 Malibu Street."

Cromwell said she wants to know how the men knew her son would pick up a gift from the home.

"I want to know who called him to the house," she said.

Adams is being held at the Volusia County Jail on unrelated theft and firearms charges and had been shot three days before Mitchell's shooting death.

Ferguson faced a judge Monday morning. He told the judge that he would like to postpone his first appearance until his parents can hire a lawyer for him.
