Marion deputy dragged by fleeing truck during traffic stop

MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A traffic stop turned dangerous for a Marion County deputy when a pickup truck driver dragged him down the road.

The deputy pulled over Allen High on Southwest 27th Avenue in Ocala for a broken tail light and tinted windows, authorities said.

High was acting nervous so the deputy said he brought in a police K-9 to inspect his truck. That's when High sped off and dragged the deputy, according to authorities.

Deputies said they were able to eventually stop High's pickup truck and found an open liquor bottle in the vehicle. The suspect reportedly told them he fled from the traffic stop because he was scared.

High received several traffic citations and was charged with fleeing from law enforcement.

The deputy was not injured during the incident.
