Melbourne man accused of child pornography held on $1M bond

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Some Melbourne residents were shocked to find out a neighbor arrested for child porn was also accused of taking photos of neighborhood children in Brevard County.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Alan Ender was arrested on Lancaster Road in Melbourne early Wednesday morning.

Ender is being held on a $1 million bond, $100,000 for each count.

Neighbors said they had no idea why state agents were in their neighborhood Wednesday, and now that they know, they said they're still in disbelief.

Ender, 57, has lived in his Melbourne neighborhood on Lancaster Road for close to a decade, and worked as a civilian employee at Patrick Air Force Base for even longer.

Thursday, his neighbors described him as friendly and told me they never saw any indication of the charges he's accused of.

FDLE agents said when they searched Ender's home, they found a destroyed hard drive and compact discs.

They said they still found enough to charge him with 10 counts of child pornography.

Neighbors said they never saw or heard anything, or saw little kids hanging out at his residence.

Agents said Ender admitted to walking around the neighborhood, snapping photos of young girls, some of whom exposing themselves to him.

If Ender bonds out, he is forbidden to be in the company of anyone under the age of 21.
