• Men try to rob jewelry store, set fire to getaway car

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Police said they are reviewing surveillance video Monday as they search for at least three men who tried to rob a jewelry store, and then burned their own getaway car.

Officials said firefighters put out the flames coming from the stolen black Dodge Stratus at a nearby apartment complex.

Police said a witness description of the car matched the one they saw leaving the S & S Jewelry store.

"Anybody that comes into a store during daylight hours and starts yelling at people and telling them to get on the ground and feels like they have the right and ability to do that, I would say are probably pretty dangerous," said Sgt. Shawn Eising of the Melbourne Police Department.

Police believe a fourth person may have driven the getaway car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline.

There were no injuries reported and it does not appear any property was taken, police said.
