Merritt Island assisted-living facility slapped with $15,000 fine

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. — WFTV learned the state will revoke the license of an assisted-living facility on Merritt Island.

Channel 9 first exposed Yan Yan Healthcare on Allen Drive in January after fire crews found no staff inside when they responded to a patient who had fallen.

According to state records, residents living there said it wasn't the first time they were left alone.

The state said in addition to revoking the facility's license, it will also fine them $15,000.

WFTV reported on numerous violations at the facility for the last month.

Reports show staff didn't have the proper training and the facility had been fined in August for altering records to the state.

The state ordered the facility to shut down three weeks ago.

The attorney for Yan Yan Healthcare has not commented.
