John Mica out as transportation chairman

WINTER PARK, Fla. — U.S. Rep. John Mica, of Winter Park, has lost some political clout.

Mica no longer chairs the House Transportation Committee.

Chairmen serve for up to six years, unless they get a waiver from the House speaker. Mica didn't receive a waiver.

During his time as committee chairman, Mica helped bring in $3 million to central Florida to help fund the SunRail project.
