Mom credited for catching accused child molester

ORLANDO, Fla. - An Orlando mother is being credited for helping to catch an accused child molester, officials said Thursday.

The mother saw clues on Facebook that led the suspect's arrest, authorities said.

Marco Camacho voluntarily went to the Orlando Police Headquarters to be interviewed, officers said.

Authorities said they were able to catch Camacho because of the attentive parent.

They said the mother of an 11-year-old victim, upset with her daughter's bad grades, went to cut off her child's Facebook account. There, she found inappropriate Facebook messages from Camacho on her daughter's Facebook account.

When she confronted her daughter, she told her mother how he touched her on several occasions.

After police interviewed the child, she told them that Camacho would often show up at the neighborhood pool and would bring toys with him and inappropriately touched her.

Authorities said they later discovered that last month, in the same apartment complex, Camacho showed several inappropriate, sexually charged videos to some neighborhood children.

Neighbor Marcos Santiago said it's a unfortunate reminder of why he never leaves his little ones alone and said it's one of his biggest fears as a parent.

The pool is in clear view of everything from the apartments, the street, and there is surveillance.
