More than 400 reset orange trees stolen from Polk County grove, deputies say

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were looking Monday for the person, or persons, who stole 409 reset orange trees from a grove in Frostproof.

The theft took place sometime between 7 p.m. Nov. 29 and 7 a.m. Nov. 30 at a citrus grove in the area of Sangster Road and Old Avon Park Road, the sheriff’s office said.

The trees were valued at $3,000, investigators said.

Citrus is an important part of our livelihood here in Polk County. Crimes like this should not be taken lightly.
