PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Authorities said a motorcyclist crashed into a railroad crossing arm, causing him to be thrown from the bike and killed on Friday.
The accident happened on Nova Road about 9:30 a.m.
Investigators said the crossing arm was in the lowered position for an approaching train when Hector Hernandez, 65, of New Smyrna Beach, struck it on his motorcycle.
There was no contact between the motorcycle and the train. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
