FHP IDs motorcyclist killed in Turnpike accident

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers have released the identity of a motorcyclist who died after hitting a guardrail at a Florida Turnpike exit Sunday night.

Troopers said Michael Oakley, 37, of Kissimmee died when he a guardrail.

According to troopers, Oakley was traveling south on the Turnpike and attempting to exit at the Osceola Parkway when he lost control of his motorcycle.

Troopers said Oakely went off the road onto a grassy area, hit a reflector pylon and then started back across the road when his bike fell onto its side.

According to troopers, Oakley fell off of the motorcycle and hit the guardrail.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers closed the southbound exit ramp from the Turnpike to the Osceola Parkway while they investigated the 8:20 p.m. accident.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Troopers said they are continuing to investigate the accident.
