Accused killer tight-lipped after investigators find hair, blood evidence

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of killing a woman and stuffing her into the trunk of a car was ordered by a judge to remain in jail without bail Friday.

Stephen Warrington, 25, has refused to speak to police, investigators said Friday.

Warrington was arrested Thursday at his mother's house on Van Loon Avenue in Palm Bay, officers said.

Despite his refusal to speak with officers, investigators believe they know plenty about what happened when Jillian Kusznir, 22, was killed.

According to court records, Kusznir and Warrington were friends.

Channel 9 found out that the day before her body was discovered she had plans to meet Warrington Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Warrington was seen at his mother's home Van Loon Avenue by her fiancée.  Investigators said Warrington told his mother's fiancée that damage on his car was caused by a crash. Police said they believe Warrington drove the car about a block west where he abandoned it with Kuznir’s body in the trunk.

Kusznir had multiple sharp-force injuries, and evidence consistent with her injuries was found at the home where Warrington was staying, investigators said.

An extensive search of the residence took place Thursday, leading up to the Warrington’s arrest.

Police found hair containing what appeared to be dried blood, and damage to the garage wall, where additional blood evidence was found.

They also found what appeared to be blood on a banister and sliding glass door at the home, investigators said.

“A large quantity of evidence was discovered in the house that leads us to believe Jillian was killed at that location,” said Cmdr. John Resh of the Palm Bay Police Department.

Officers are still trying to find a motive for Kusznir’s killing.

“It’s a sickening crime and we need to find that out,” Resh said. “That’s the duty that we owe Jillian and her family right now.”

Warrington was being held without bail at the Brevard County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
