National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando-area residents will once again have the opportunity this weekend to safely dispose of old, expired or unwanted prescription medications.

On Saturday, the "National Prescription Take Back Day" initiative will start at 10 am and end at 2 pm. The Orlando Police Department will staff 8 different locations throughout the City of Orlando.

*   Casselberry Police Department - 4195 S. U.S. Highway 17-92, Casselberry

*   Lake Mary Police Department - 165 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Lake Mary

*   Longwood Police Department - 235 W. Church Ave., Longwood

*   Sanford Police Department - 815 Historic Goldsboro Blvd., Sanford

*   Oviedo Police Department - 300 Alexandria Blvd., Oviedo

*   Winter Springs Police Department - 300 N. Moss Rd., Winter Springs

*   Seminole County Sheriff's Office

Lakeland, Polk County:

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Citizens may turn in unused, expired, or unwanted Human and Pet Medications at the Lakeland Police Department, located at 219 N Massachusetts Avenue

For folks unable to attend on Saturday, unwanted medications may also be taken to the county's permanent drop site located at the Winter Haven Police Department, 125 North Lake Silver Drive NW, in Winter Haven, weekdays between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Brevard County:

Cocoa Beach: On Saturday at the Cocoa Beach Police Department between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Melbourne: At the Melbourne Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The disposal site is the police headquarters building at 650 N. Apollo Boulevard.

Marion County:

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a uniformed officer will be stationed at the following "no questions asked" collection sites:

  • Marion County Sheriff's Office South Marion District Office, 8230 S.E. 165th Mulberry Lane
  • The Villages  Marion County Sheriff's Office Southwest District Office, 9048 SW HWY 200,
  • Ocala Police Department, 402 S. Pine Avenue, Ocala

Osceola County:

Citizens who have unwanted prescription drugs can drop them off at three sites in Osceola County:

  • Publix at Pleasant Hill Commons located at 3343 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee
  • Publix Sabor located at 1980 E. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee
  • Publix Center of St. Cloud located at 4401 13th Street in St. Cloud.

All locations will have deputies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volusia County:

Saturday's event is free and anonymous. The Sheriff's Office's drop-off sites will be at the following locations:

*   94 S. U.S. Highway 17-92, DeBary
*  999 3rd Street, Holly Hill
*  101 E. Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach
