Nearby police activity causes lockdown at Audubon Elementary School

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Audubon Elementary School in Merritt Island was put on lockdown Thursday as law enforcement responded to a call in the area, Brevard County Schools spokeswoman Michelle Irwin said.

The lockdown was put in place as a precaution, she said.

No information was immediately available from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on the nature of the incident deputies were responding to.

No information was released on how long the school would remain locked down.
