Wandering boy reunited with his mother in Kissimmee

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee police detectives said they have located the mother of a young boy who was found wandering alone Friday morning.

WFTV spoke with his mother at her house. She said her son was left with a babysitter Friday morning when she went to work.

At about 5:45 a.m. Friday, officers said they responded to the area of Central Avenue and West Vine Street in reference to a young child who was found alone.

The boy, whose age was not released, was taken to the Kissimmee Police Department and the Department of Children and Families was notified.

"We picked him up, tried to drive him around to find out where he lived, but we weren't able to, so, we brought back him here to the department," said Stacie Miller of the Kissimmee Police Department.

About hours later, police said his mother was frantic when she showed up at the police station.

"It's crazy. I just get nervous when I see my dog outside right here. I can imagine walking alone over there," said neighbor Angelica Huerta.

Police said no one has been charged.
