Officials: Man dies after being pulled from water in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Beach patrol officials said a man died after being pulled from the ocean in Daytona Beach Shores Sunday morning.

Emergency rescue crews were called to the beach around 11:00 a.m. after bystanders pulled the 49-year-old man from the water.

The victim, wh0 is from Lake County, was rushed to Halifax Hospital in Port Orange where he was pronounced deceased.

According to officials, it appears the man may have drowned after suffering some type of medical episode in the water. Officials said an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

There have been no other water rescues this weekend, beach patrol officials said.
