Deputies: Dispute over woman led to fatal east Orange County shooting

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are looking for a Hispanic male, known only as “June,” and his brother in connection to a fatal shooting on Friday.

The shooting happened just before 2:00 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the University Oaks Plaza near the intersection of University Boulevard and Dean Road.

Deputies said Stephen Thibirge, 20, died at the scene. Video captured by Skywitness 9 HD showed a handgun next to Thibirge's body.

Thibirge's friend was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition after investigators said he was shot while standing between two cars.

Investigators said Thibirge was not the target of the dispute, but his friend that had also been dating June’s girlfriend. The girlfriend, who deputies said is not cooperating, was identified as Desiree Lutman.

Thibirge's girlfriend told WFTV reporter Ryan Hughes the night of the shooting, the incident started because of Lutman.

"So, all I can say is that people need to stop fighting over women. There's no point -- especially strippers. They're not important. They strip for a reason," said the woman.

She wouldn't give her name, but said the injured man had issues with the shooters and her boyfriend apparently had no part.

"This beef wasn't even with him … wasn't even with him. He died for nothing. He died over something -- over a girl," she said.

After the shooting, deputies said, three or four gunmen took off in a car on Dean Road.

Deputies checked businesses in the University Oaks Plaza for surveillance video.

Area residents said they were stunned by the shooting.

"It's just kind of scary that I, like, live down the road. It happened at a place I come to, like, every day," said witness Samid Carlo.

Deputies are looking for a small silver- or gold-color car that witnesses said they saw driving away from the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
