Orange Co. commissioner wants to move county offices

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County commissioner wants to move the County Property Appraiser and Tax Collector's office following a Channel 9 investigation.

Those luxury offices, in the Suntrust Tower, cost taxpayers more than $1 million per year in rent.

A Channel 9 investigation found it's part of more than $8 million the county pays for leased officers every year.

Tuesday, Commissioner Scott Boyd said he will propose finding a new location for those offices when the lease expires.

"As far as taxpayer dollars are concerned, you want to make sure that what you are doing is efficient," Boyd said.

He is asking the county to look for space in county-owned properties or cheaper leases and for a property that is more accessible.
