Orange Co. deputy recovering after Orlando crash



ORLANDO, Fla. - An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being involved in a crash in Orlando.

The Sheriff's Office said the deputy was on the way to a call with her lights and siren going Wednesday night when a pickup truck slammed into her at Michigan Street and Orange Avenue.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck and two children inside were not hurt in the wreck, but was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Lanes of eastbound Michigan Street and northbound Orange Avenue were closed while the crash was investigated.

The intersection was cleared by 11 p.m.

Orlando Police and the Orange Co. Sheriff's office are investigating the crash.

The deputy's name has not yet been released.
