ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County Clerk of Courts Lydia Gardner died Thursday morning, after a battle with cancer, according to her office's website.

The website states that Gardner, 68, was in her fourth term, having served as clerk since 2001.

The site stated, "Lydia Gardner led tremendous change in the Clerk’s Office from the time she was elected in 2000.  With an emphasis on providing exemplary customer service, she focused on technology upgrades that would enhance electronic services, pioneered online traffic ticket payments and provided easier access to information through myorangeclerk.com."

Thursday afternoon Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. appointed Colleen Marie Reilly as clerk ad interim for Orange County.

Reilly will serve until Gov. Rick Scott takes action on an appointment.
