Armed man arrested after east Orange County Hess robbery

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Investigators said a man armed with a gun was caught after robbing a Hess gas station in east Orange County early Saturday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office said the man entered the Hess at Rouse Road and University Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies said the man, later identified as Joshua Bennett, appeared to be shopping while waiting for customers to leave before he approached the clerk.

"He threatened the clerk with that hand gun in his waist," said Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Bennett got away with an unknown amount of cash and fled in a silver vehicle, which was later found at a nearby hotel that he was staying at. The suspect, described as a white male in his 20s, was taken into custody at the hotel.

Bennett was taken to the Orange County Jail and faces a robbery with a firearm charge.
