Orange County deputies search for armed robbers

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies are trying to find two men who robbed a general store and opened fire.

Police and crime scene technicians spent hours investigating a holdup-turned-shooting at The African Store on Orange Blossom Trail Thursday.

Deputies said two men stormed into the store holding up guns just before 4 p.m.

WFTV learned the multiple shots were fired inside the business.

The owner said he pulled out his own gun and fired back, sending multiple bullets toward the obbers.

“One of them tried to find a way to get out. They [ran] and dropped the money. I [picked] up my money back,” said the store’s owner, Chiekh Kane.

A witness said an employee or patron was pistol-whipped, but no one was seriously injured.

Pictures captured from a surveillance video shows the duo as they stormed in, and as they ran off.

Deputies said the holdup lasted about 30 seconds, and the robbers’ faces were covered; one wore a ski mask, and the other wore a beanie.

It’s unclear of the robbers got away with any money or store items.

A friend of the owner said it’s the second time the store has been robbed in the past year.

There’s an award available for anyone who can provide information about the robbery.
