Orange County School Board approves teacher raises

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County School Board has voted on the contract for thousands of teachers, which includes the pay raises they were promised months ago.

Late Thursday night the board voted to give a raise of $1,475 to every teacher in the district.

Teachers evaluated as “effective” and “highly effective” will get an extra $1,000 to $1,300.

The contract will now go on to the teachers for a vote.

The money promised to teachers by the legislature and the governor in August.

The union wanted the raises to be evenly distributed to all teachers, and not based on student performance.
