Orange County Sheriff's Office conducting death investigation of 24-year-old man

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man.

Deputies were called to a home Saturday in the 7400 block of Park Springs Circle in Orlando for reports of an accidental shooting, the news release said.

Julian Omar Colom was found shot and later died at a hospital, deputies said.

A weapon was recovered inside the home, deputies said.

Colom's family attorney, Roger Scott, said the victim didn't have a gun and never showed interest in guns.

Scott said Colom was going to visit a friend inside the gated community when he was shot.

"The mother (of the victim) called me after she found out. It was a horrible call, the worst. One of the worst experiences of my life getting that call," said Scott, who is also a family friend.

Scott said Colom was shot in the right arm with a .357 Magnum.

"They don't know who was holding the gun. Was it on purpose? Was it accidental? All of those (questions). Who fired the gun? Whose gun was it?" Scott asked.

No other details have been released.
