Orange County woman accused of using fake names to get pain meds at ER

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County woman is accused of going to the emergency room at  Dr. Phillips Hospital under a fake name to get her hands on pain medication.

Investigators believe she’s been there at least five times with different names and Social Security numbers.

ER workers recognized her the fifth time around.

When investigators approached Nardreka Salaam at the hospital, she told them her name was Quiana Knowles and she had checked into the emergency room with a toothache.

Deputies sais Salaam had checked into the hospital at least five times since October and racked up big bills.

Her father told Channel 9 he didn’t know about the fictitious names, but claimed she has real pain and has been to several hospitals since she was shot in 2015.

The hospital would not comment on Salaam’s case, but sent a statement that said, "Incidents of patients presenting false information occur infrequently, but when identified, Orlando Health cooperates fully with law enforcement to assist in the investigation and prosecution of these individuals."

Salaam called Channel 9 reporter Jeff Deal on Friday afternoon and said the charges are bogus.

She said she didn't want to answer questions about the accusation that she used fake names.
